Winner of a 1992 Anne Izard Storytellers' Choice Award
Children Tell Stories is a book about how to teach children to tell stories and how to make storytelling by both teachers and students an integral part of the curriculum.
The authors walk teachers through a six-week project of teaching students to tell stories. From introducing children to the idea of telling stories to coping with stage fright, they leave no storytelling stone unturned. They describe a wide range of exercises on voice, gestures, and movements.
The book, which is written in a clear, personal, and encouraging style, makes it easy for the busy teacher by including sample copies of flyers, worksheets, and letters to parents, as well as extensive bibliographies. It also contains 25 stories
ready for students to tell.
